WSC 2017 Regional Round (13-14 May 2017)
In this
country, Indonesia, where we literally have a low-economic track for years, do
you really think that we should land a manned mission to Mars rather than
building a better life in our own society?
Now to the definition. Basically, the meaning of “send”,
according to www.merriam-webster.com, is to propel or throw in a particular direction while
the meaning of “mission”, according to Google’s definition, is an assignment to
or work in a place of a missionary enterprise.
My first
argument will be that I strongly believe that this motion is wrong and shall
fall because don’t you know how bad is the economic-track of Indonesia is? It
has been proven by a survey that Indonesia’s GDP (Gross Domestic Product) – one
of the primary indicators used to gauge the health of a country’s economy – is
so low, which is $3,511 and that means that we are still below another
developing country, like China, for example.
The second
thing is that Indonesia’s Human Development Index (HDI) is categorized as
medium-low. It is literally an imbalance fact that Indonesia is the
fourth-populous country on earth that is still haven’t reach the “peak” of
their human potential, rather than USA, that literally is the world’s populous
country, but at the same time, it has a higher HDI.
It has caused to all companies to move in Jakarta,
ever since it is the capital city of Indonesia, which means that it can help
them (companies) to stay alive, but for other local-factories, they can’t move
in because there are no more space for them, forcing them to stay in their
first headquarters, but they also can’t re-product theirsupplies and at the
end, they’ll have to lack the payment of the pay-check, distribution, and etc.
the last result of their hard work is bankrupt.
This is not
the only factor that makes Indonesia’s economy low. One of the famous ones is corruption.
It always started with promotions, and always happened to leaders, like
government.
So, what is
the relationship between Indonesia’s low-economy with sending an aircraft to
Mars? The answer is that we can’t even afford the cost of the fuel! It cost
billions of US dollar, and the reason is why Indonesia can’t afford that much
money is because of the reasons I’ve just stated above. Thank you.
